Keep recruiting all three. Attrition is unavoidable, and voluntarily creating a thin room is worse.

A balanced room needs different answers. If all three are inside-zone runners, spend that scholarship on a tackle.

Three is fine if one is a true return specialist. Special teams snaps make the depth chart feel less crowded.

Can a class take three running backs without losing one?

The staff already has two running backs committed and apparently wants a third, a compact power runner who also returns kicks. The pitch makes sense because one current back may enter the draft and another has two years left, but recruits rarely love crowded rooms. With the portal changing roster math, can a program realistically sign three and keep all of them through next August?
