Brand bias would survive. Voters remember which teams were expected to be good even without publishing a list.

Should preseason rankings disappear completely?

Preseason rankings shape the whole season even when voters insist they update honestly. A team that begins eighth can survive an ugly win, while an unranked team needs a month to climb into view. I prefer no official poll until every team has played four games. We would lose some August debate, but September results would carry cleaner weight. Would that help or just move the same bias into October?
