Neutral-site rivalry games have lost the plot

A rivalry belongs on campus. I want packed student sections, familiar streets, and the visiting band wedged into the least convenient corner allowed by code. Neutral sites offer premium seats and polished events, but they sand away the weirdness that gives these games identity. Unless the neutral stadium is itself part of a long tradition, move the game home-and-home. Who actually defends the corporate parking-lot version?
