Georgia has been allowing just 14.9 points per game, which is an impressive defensive record. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, their next opponent has been putting points on the board at a very different rate.

Ole Miss is averaging 37.1 points per game, and that offensive firepower is exactly why Saturday's matchup in Oxford caught my attention. The discussion highlighted in Bovada's Telegram preview raises an interesting question about whether Georgia's defense can slow down one of the country's most productive offenses.

The first CFP rankings have Georgia sitting at No. 2 and Ole Miss at No. 10. There's plenty at stake for both programs, particularly with the Rebels playing in front of their home supporters.

For me, the key will be how Georgia handles Ole Miss when the Rebels start moving the ball. Can the Bulldogs force them to settle for shorter gains, make them work through long possessions and keep the explosive plays to a minimum?

Because if Ole Miss starts finding the end zone with quick scoring drives, Georgia's impressive defensive average won't mean much on Saturday.

This is the sort of game that can tell us a lot about a team's championship credentials. Georgia has the defensive numbers, but now comes the challenge of proving they can hold up against an offense capable of scoring in a hurry.

Can Georgia's defense keep Ole Miss under control in Oxford, or will the Rebels' explosive offense finally expose some weaknesses in the Bulldogs?
